Exhibit Schedule

GIFTS FROM AFRICA: BRONZES, ART and ARTIFACTS: Opens to the public on Saturday, May 3, 2008.  Exhibit is displayed until December 31, 2008.
Come enjoy the magnificent exhibit of African Bronzes, Art and Artifacts from the private collection of Susan and William Rochfort.  This collection features fine bronze castings, elaborate masks, richly woven textiles, intricate adornments such as headdresses and beads and decorated utilitarian objects for everyday use.

The Rochforts state that “the beauty and the power of these objects serve not only the myth and tradition of the original users but fuel the imagination of contemporary viewers.  The feeling each piece evokes transcends the passage of time, crosses ethnic boundaries and acknowledges man’s ancestral legacy in his quest for harmony.  Harmony is a blessing earned by each of us when we are brave enough to look through another man’s eyes and see common ground.”

BILL STEVENS EXHIBIT EXTENDED until August 16, 2008.
To the delight of adults and children alike, the exhibit dates of “Black, White and Color” have been extended until August 16, 2008.  If you have not yet had the joy of viewing this exhibit, you have missed something wonderful! There are over 75 drawings and illustrations, using graphite pencil, watercolor, pen and ink and charcoal.  They all show the superb drawing skills and rich and often witty imagination of this gifted artist.

Mr. Stevens teaches classes to children and adults here at the Museum, and he also teaches at other schools in Atlanta.  He graduated with a degree in Advertising Design and has received local, national and international awards for his work.  We hope you will come see Mr. Stevens exhibit.  It will please both children and adults!
